Quick Tip For Using Project Sunshine

You might be doing the Udacity Nanodegree or just following along with the Project Sunshine coursework.  By far the hardest part is getting set up:

project sunshine udacity set up api key gradle.properties

Assuming you got an API key and cloned the GitHub repository, the last step is opening (or creating if it doesn’t already exist) gradle.properties and adding this line of code:

MyOpenWeatherMapApiKey=”YOUR_API_KEY”

The problem is that if you copy the line directly from the Udacity Google Doc you get curly quotations when you need the straight kind.  So copy-paste the line.  Then replace the quotes with the right kind.  Then replace YOUR_API_KEY.  Sync gradle and you’re off.

Incidentally, if you skip steps 1 & 3 you end up with an error similar to the following:
